Its defining feature is the bidirectional 24-hour bezel with a two-colour blue and black Cerachrom ceramic insert. The two colours distinguish daytime from nighttime hours when reading the additional GMT hand, while giving the watch its instantly recognisable “Batman” identity. The black dial features Rolex’s highly legible Chromalight display, complemented by the prominent blue 24-hour GMT hand.
The GMT functionality allows the wearer to display a second time zone using the arrow-tipped 24-hour hand and rotating bezel. The conventional hour hand can be adjusted independently in one-hour increments without disturbing the minutes, seconds or reference time, making the GMT-Master II a genuine traveller’s watch.
At its heart is the Rolex Manufacture Calibre 3285, a self-winding mechanical movement offering approximately 70 hours of power reserve. Certified as a Superlative Chronometer, the movement delivers exceptional precision, reliability and efficiency and incorporates Rolex’s Chronergy escapement, blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers.
