The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 MA-1 Ref. BR0392-KAO-CE/SCA is a distinctive limited-edition pilot’s watch inspired by the legendary MA-1 military flight jacket. Combining the unmistakable square architecture of the BR 03 collection with authentic military aviation colours, this special edition celebrates the functional design and heritage of one of the most recognisable pieces of military flying equipment.
Presented in a substantial 42mm square ceramic case, the watch features a matt khaki-green finish that closely resembles the exterior of the traditional MA-1 flight jacket. The ceramic construction provides excellent scratch resistance while giving the watch a purposeful, understated appearance. Its signature four-screw bezel and cockpit-instrument-inspired architecture reinforce the unmistakable Bell & Ross identity.
The khaki-green dial continues the military theme, featuring large Arabic numerals, bold hour markers and highly legible hands. The numerals and markers incorporate luminous material for excellent visibility in low-light conditions, while a discreet date aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock adds everyday practicality.
One of the most distinctive features of the MA-1 is its two-layer sandwich dial construction. The matt khaki upper plate is precisely cut away around the numerals and hour markers, revealing vivid orange Super-LumiNova beneath. This combination mirrors the original flight jacket’s military-green exterior and bright orange emergency lining, which was designed to improve visibility during search-and-rescue operations.
Powering the watch is the Bell & Ross Calibre BR-CAL.302, a self-winding mechanical movement based on the proven Sellita SW300-1 architecture. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement provides approximately 38 hours of power reserve and displays hours, minutes, central seconds and the date.
The dial is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while the solid caseback and robust ceramic construction contribute to 100 metres of water resistance. These features make the BR 03-92 MA-1 a practical everyday sports watch while retaining its unmistakable aviation-inspired identity.
The watch was originally supplied with a particularly distinctive reversible calfskin leather strap, featuring khaki green on one side and bright orange on the other. Much like the original MA-1 flight jacket, the strap can be reversed to reveal its contrasting colour. An additional ultra-resistant synthetic fabric strap further enhances its versatility.
