The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 126500LN represents the latest evolution of one of the most celebrated chronographs in modern watchmaking. Introduced in 2023 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Cosmograph Daytona, this generation combines the unmistakable design of Rolex’s legendary motorsport chronograph with refined case proportions, subtle aesthetic improvements and an entirely new-generation manufacture movement.
Presented in a 40mm Oystersteel case, the Ref. 126500LN retains the distinctive architecture that has defined the Daytona for decades. Its beautifully balanced combination of polished and satin-finished surfaces creates a sophisticated yet unmistakably sporting appearance. The redesigned case incorporates refined lugs and a more elegant profile, giving this generation a particularly well-proportioned wrist presence.
One of the defining features is the fixed black Cerachrom ceramic bezel, engraved with a tachymetric scale capable of measuring average speeds of up to 400 units per hour. The bezel is now surrounded by a fine metal edging, a subtle design refinement that distinguishes the 126500LN from its predecessor, the 116500LN.
The dial features the Daytona’s iconic three-register chronograph configuration, with the 30-minute counter positioned at 3 o’clock, the 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and running seconds at 6 o’clock. Applied hour markers and hands incorporating Rolex Chromalight ensure excellent legibility, while the contrasting chronograph registers reinforce the unmistakable Daytona identity.
Powering the watch is the Rolex Manufacture Calibre 4131, a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement introduced specifically for the latest Daytona generation. Building on the highly regarded Calibre 4130, the new movement incorporates Rolex’s Chronergy escapement, Parachrom hairspring and refined mechanical architecture. It delivers approximately 72 hours of power reserve and carries Rolex’s stringent Superlative Chronometer certification.
The chronograph operates through a column-wheel mechanism and vertical clutch, providing precise engagement and smooth operation of the timing functions. Screw-down chronograph pushers and Rolex’s Triplock winding crown contribute to the robustness of the Oyster case, which offers water resistance to 100 metres.
The watch is fitted to Rolex’s iconic three-piece Oyster bracelet in Oystersteel, featuring polished centre links and satin-finished outer links. The bracelet is secured by an Oysterlock safety clasp with the Easylink comfort-extension system, allowing convenient adjustment for everyday wear.
