The Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 126720VTNR, widely known as the “Sprite”, is one of the most distinctive and unconventional interpretations of Rolex’s legendary travel watch. Presented in a 40mm Oystersteel case, it immediately stands apart from the rest of the GMT-Master II collection through its unique left-handed configuration.
The defining feature is its two-colour green and black Cerachrom ceramic bezel. The bidirectional 24-hour bezel works together with the green arrow-tipped GMT hand to display an additional time zone, while the black dial features Rolex’s highly legible Chromalight hour markers and hands.
What truly distinguishes the Ref. 126720VTNR is the positioning of the winding crown and crown guards on the left-hand side of the case. Rolex also relocated the date aperture and signature Cyclops magnifying lens to 9 o’clock, creating a completely reversed visual balance and making this one of the most unusual modern Rolex Professional models.
At its heart is the Rolex Manufacture Calibre 3285, a self-winding mechanical movement developed specifically for Rolex’s modern GMT watches. It provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve and allows the conventional hour hand to be adjusted independently in one-hour increments, making it a true traveller’s GMT. The movement carries Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer certification and is rated to −2/+2 seconds per day after casing.
The 40mm Oystersteel case is water resistant to 100 metres and fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Depending on the specific configuration, the Ref. 126720VTNR is available on either Rolex’s robust three-piece Oyster bracelet or the more intricate five-piece Jubilee bracelet.
